Matt "The Hammer" Hamill is a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and amateur wrestler. He best known for being a contestant on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter televised on Spike TV in association with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Matthew S. Hamill was born on October 5th 1976 in Cincinnati Ohio and was born deaf. He attended Loveland High School (1992 to 1995) where he began wrestling. He also attended the Rochester Institute of Technology (1996 to 1998)in Rochester, New York and during that time, he was the NCAA Division III National Champion in wrestling on 3 occasions. At RIT, he received an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering and was part of the RIT Wrestling club. He also shortly attended Purdue University.

Amougn his accomplishments is winning the gold medals in greco-roman style and freestyle wrestling during the Deaflympics in 1997 (Denmark) and freestyle int he 2001 Summer Deaflympics. On of his better recognized moments was on The Ultimate Fighter where he be Jesse Forbes by TKA during the finale of the 3rds season. He went on to beat Rex Holman at UFC 68: The Uprising and Seth Petruzelli at Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter.
